Cochin has been one of the prime centres of trade, business and traditional values since time immemorial. As a result, it has a lot of heritage sites on its grounds which symbolize greater values. As the population increased, many irrational massive structures were erected to meet demand. It gradually resulted in the decline of the city’s rich past, even certain heritage sites got buried under functional architecture. This lamentable display of improper planning of urban places which destroy the cultural values of Kochi inspired us to connect the present to its distinguished past. As responsible citizens, we could play a vital role in creating a link between the past and the present. With an urge to preserve the glorious historical architecture in Cochin, we initiate a campaign to call out the factors which led to the decline of the rich heritage that existed in the city. The place needs a coherent and rational strategy that yields productive urban designs to benefit the commuters. The initiative will have a team of architects exploring and analysing the traditional architectural characters of Cochin which are slowly vanishing. We strive to put forward possible solutions to retain our connection to the past.
